October round-up: People’s Emergency Briefing

After last month’s talk by local environmental author Fred Pearce, about the 7 reasons to be cheerful about Climate Change, we decided to show the ‘People’s Emergency Briefing’ film. This has been produced centrally by the National Emergency Briefing organisation and is an edited version of a conference of climate experts organised to brief politicians, policy makers and decision makers about the challenges we face due to climate change and biodiversity loss and how we can all play our part to address them.

The film is being shown by thousands of community organisations like ours, across the country. If you missed our screening you can see where else to catch it on this map. The NEB philosophy is to show the film to groups of people who can then discuss it afterwards, rather than make it available to individuals. The aim is to persuade politicians to air it on prime time TV.

Our two back-to-back events aimed to demonstrate that it isn’t all doom and gloom. The challenges are real, urgent and getting bigger, but things are being done to address them by governments, businesses, community groups and individuals. Together we can make a difference.
